Support
SawKit is made by one developer. Email is the only support channel, and it reaches that developer directly — there is no queue and no bot in front of it.
Please allow a few working days for a reply. Writing in a language other than English is fine; the answer may be slower.
Reporting a bug
Four things make a bug fixable on the first reply:
- Which device and which system version.
- What you did, in the order you did it.
- What you expected, and what happened instead.
- If it is about a layout: the part sizes, the sheet size and the kerf. Exporting the project and attaching it is quicker than typing them out.
Screenshots help more than descriptions of screenshots.
Feature requests
Send them. SawKit is version 1.0 and the list of what it does not do yet is long and honest. Requests that come with the reason behind them — the job you were trying to finish — get further than requests for a specific button.
Common questions
- What does SawKit run on?
- SawKit is a native app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It is one universal purchase across all three — buy it once and it is on every device signed in to your Apple Account.
- Does it need an internet connection?
- No. The whole calculation runs on your device, so SawKit works with no signal at all. Workshops are usually the worst room in the building for that.
- What can I do without paying?
- The free version does the whole calculation and draws the layout on screen, and the shop calculators are free forever. It is limited to up to 10 parts, 3 projects and one kind of stock.
- What does Pro unlock?
- Unlimited parts, projects and stock; PDF export and printing; the cut order; your own stock list with prices; and your projects on every device you own.
- Is it a subscription?
- No. SawKit Pro is $24.99, one payment, not a subscription. The app runs on your device and there is no server behind it, so there is no rent to charge you.
- Can I type fractional inches?
- Yes. Type sizes the way you would say them — 15 3/16, 3/4", 4' 6" — or in millimetres. A unit written on a number always wins, so you can mix imported hardware into a metric project without doing sums.
- How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
- Restore Purchases is on the paywall and in Settings. It asks Apple what you already own; no account of ours is involved, because there is no account of ours.
- Can it lay out shapes that are not rectangles?
- No. SawKit plans guillotine cuts — every cut runs edge to edge across the piece in your hands, which is what a panel saw or a track saw can actually do. Curved or irregular nesting is a different job and SawKit does not do it.
- How do I ask for a refund?
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — we never see your payment. Use Report a Problem at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account that made the purchase.
- What data do you hold about me?
- None. No account, no analytics, no tracking, no crash reporter, no server. The full detail is on the privacy page.
